MCP's Dentist Advisory Board
The Medical Curriculum Partners Advisory Board was established to help us meet our goals and objectives of bridging the existing need for a national leader of dental assisting education at the highest quality levels. This talented group of dental professionals consists of some of dentistry’s best and brightest clinicians, and dental office business administrators. They serve a variety of functions including providing our Senior Leadership Team with dental industry insights and perspectives, as well as advocating and offering feedback on strategic plans and key initiatives. The board also provides an opportunity for information exchange regarding issues of mutual interest to MCP dental assisting school owners.
Dr. Sharel Sly, DDS
Dr. Sharel S. Sly is a General Dentist and native of New Orleans, LA where she has proven to all, “it is not where you come from, but where you are going that determines your path in life.” She was taught at an early age to work hard for what you want, strive for excellence and let nothing deter you from your goals. Dr. Sly received a Bachelor of Science degree in Microbiology from Louisiana State University-Baton Rouge then went on to earn her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from The University of Tennessee Health Science Center in 2009. After practicing in LA she moved to Houston in 2011 and in 2016 achieved her dream of opening up her own dental practice.
Dr. Sly hopes to make her mark in Houston as she furthers her craft of dentistry. Her primary goal is to provide quality dental care where patients will get to develop a lasting relationship with her and her team, which can be challenging in today’s society of ever-revolving corporate dentistry. To do so, time must be spent with each patient where treatment is explained, questions are answered and patients are heard. Dr. Sly has a genuine affinity for her profession and keeps abreast of the advancements in Dentistry by committing to continually learning through continuous education. Above all, she truly loves to see the confidence and joy she can impart just by allowing patients to simply smile again.
In 2017 Dr. Sly created the organization, Sistahs in Dentistry, that is to serve as a sisterhood for black women who practice as double minorities in dentistry. It is a community where women uplift, support and encourage each other through some of the challenges of dentistry and life. With its growth SID has evolved into The Association of Black Women Dentists and is a network of over 2800 members nationally and internationally. ABWD serves as a useful resource for practicing dentists as well as dental students soon to embark upon the wonderful field of dentistry.
In her spare time, she likes to enjoy time with family and enjoy some of the simpler things in life such as an afternoon on the couch binge watching shows on tv. She recently launched an online national directory of dentists, which along with the organization and her private practice keeps her sufficiently busy.
Dr. Boris Yusupov, DDS
Dr. Yusupov graduated from the New York University (NYU) College of Dentistry in 2002. Prior to studying at the Dental School, he attended the NYU College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Yusupov is a remarkable practitioner who is equally compassionate toward his patients as he is dedicated to the profession of dentistry.
He stays current with the many advances in dentistry and constantly takes advantage of educational opportunities to ensure that you receive the most comprehensive and advanced dental care.
Dr. Steven H. Poulos, DDS
Dr. Poulos received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from Creighton University in 1979. His special interests include helping anxious patients overcome dental fears, reconstruction of complex dental problems, cosmetic make-overs, emergency care, implant dentistry, children’s dentistry and advanced periodontic care. Dr. Poulos and his wife Cathy have two sons. They enjoy outdoor activities, travel, culinary pursuits, art and musical venues, and exterior gardening. They are active in their church, community and with their children’s activities.
Dr. Poulos has authored numerous articles including Secret Weapons for Painless Dentistry published in Dental Economics.
Dr. Latonya Ware, DDS
Dr. Ware attended Gentry High School from 1994-1995 and graduated in 1997 from Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science. In 2001, Dr. Ware received from Tougaloo a Bachelor or Science degree magna cum laude in Chemistry with an emphasis in international studies. In 2005, she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Dentistry. Besides operating a comprehensive dental practice for many years, she has been an on-staff dentist at the University of Mississippi Medical Center since 2006, serving on the Surgery and Performance Improvement Coordinating committees.
Dr. Ware received the “Outstanding Woman of Leadership Award” from the International Women’s Leadership Association. She was also named 2017 Woman of the Year by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, for her philanthropic work and dedication to Youth. She was recently named Tougaloo College 40 under 40 inductees 2017 and Top Minority Business Leader for Delta Business Journal December 2017 issue.
Dr. Ali Ghatri, DDS.
Board Certified Orthodontist. Dr. Ghatri Completed his dental education at Case Western Reserve University and was awarded the Certificate of Academic Excellence in Dentistry in both 1991 and 1992. Dr. Ghatri received his orthodontic certificate from the University Of Connecticut Department Of Orthodontics and started his practice in the metro area of Washington, D.C. in 1995. Throughout his career he has treated many children and adults using the newest and most advanced technologies available and has been a member of the American Association of Orthodontics since 1992 and received the American Association of Orthodontists’ Scientific Program Award for my participation in orthodontic education and research. He is a Board Certified Orthodontist. He has been recognized as an Invisalign® Diamond Provider and am among the top one percent of Invisalign providers in the United States.
Dr. Sam Osseiran, DDS, MA, MAGD
A graduate of the Georgetown University School of Dentistry with a certification in occlusion, TMJ management, and prosthodontics, Dr. Osseiran received a Master of Science degree from the same institution for his invention of an intraoral prosthesis treatment for obstructive sleep apnea and snoring. Dr. Osseiran also attended NYU for a fellowship in surgical and prosthetic implant dentistry and was awarded a prestigious Mastership from the American Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD). With more than 5,000 hours of continuing education covering all dental disciplines, Dr. Osseiran also received the honor of being recognized as one of America’s Top Dentists in cosmetic and implant dentistry for 2005-2006 from the Consumer Research Council of America.
Dr. Carlos Caballero, DDS
Dr. Caballero owns three very successful orthodontic practices and is a board eligible Orthodontist with over two decades of orthodontic dental experience and expertise. Prior to founding Master Orthodontics, Dr. Caballero served as an orthodontist in Texas and now in the greater Seattle area.
Malika Azargoon
Malika Azargoon, a graduate of George Washington University, has been a professional in the dental industry for nearly 15 years. With initial plans to pursue a career in dentistry, life changed direction with a growing family and she found herself redirecting her passion and energy for the dental industry by seeking opportunities to grow existing dental practices. Excelling as a dental assistant, she quickly grew her role in the practices she worked in and ultimately became a business manager in one of the top dental practices in the DC Metro area. As the demand for Malika’s expertise grew, Zar Dental Consulting was developed and is now a successful dental consulting firm, serving over 90 different practices in the DC Metro area and surrounding Mid-Atlantic region.
Dr. Rebecca Poling, DDS
Dr. Rebecca Poling graduated from dental hygiene at the University of Maryland School of Dentistry and attended Johns Hopkins University with course work toward her MPH. She taught dental students management of expanded function auxiliaries for two years at the dental school at the University of Maryland. Dr. Poling achieved Board Certification from the American Board of Orthodontics. She is past president of the Alaska State Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Poling has published in the Journal of Dental Education and in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She has also been a contributing author to the text Surgical Orthodontic Treatment by Drs. Proffit and White. Dr. Poling was on the orthodontic faculty at New York University College of Dentistry and at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, Adolescent Health Center where she trained predoctoral dental students, orthodontic residents, pediatric dentistry residents, International dentists, and staff.
